Shannon Gaffney elected to Texas A&M Advisory Council Presidency

SkB Architects founding partner Shannon Gaffney has been elected President of the Architecture + Industry Advisory Council at Texas A&M University’s College of Architecture, bringing more than two decades of architectural practice and design leadership to a group connecting the profession with the next generation of architects and designers.

The Council brings together leaders from architecture, engineering, construction, development, academia, and allied professions to help shape the future of architectural education and strengthen the relationship between practice and the university. Its leadership includes principals and senior practitioners from Diller Scofidio + Renfro, HKS, TreanorHL, and other firms working across architecture and the built environment.

As President, Gaffney will help guide that exchange, bringing questions emerging in practice into closer conversation with architectural education. Her appointment builds on a longstanding involvement in academia as a critic, juror, speaker, and advisor, alongside her work leading SkB Architects.

For SkB Architects, academia is another place to test ideas. Teaching, criticism, and exchange with students and other practitioners bring different perspectives back into the studio, while giving the experience of practice a role in shaping what comes next.
