SkB Architects Published in “The New Rural” Architecture Book
SkB Architects has been selected for inclusion in The New Rural: Interiors Within Nature, an international publication examining a changing relationship between architecture, interiors, landscape, and contemporary rural life.
The book brings together architects and designers whose work explores ways of living more closely connected to nature. Across homes and interiors in different settings, it considers how architecture can respond to landscape with greater attention to place, material, climate, and the rhythms of everyday life.
Those questions are familiar territory for SkB Architects. Our residential work begins with the particular qualities of a site and the lives of the people who will inhabit it. Sometimes that means opening a home more fully to its landscape. Sometimes it means building less, preserving what is already there, or reconsidering the boundary between indoors and out.
Being featured in The New Rural places SkB Architects within an international conversation about residential architecture and what rural living can mean today. It is a conversation that extends through much of our work: how architecture can take root in a place rather than simply occupy it.
