Rooftop at Railspur
A wedding one night. An art exhibition, concert, or FIFA watch party the next. The Rooftop at Railspur makes room for each within a historic Pioneer Square building that has already lived through generations of change. Rather than give the rooftop a fixed identity, the renovation keeps the material palette restrained and builds flexibility into the infrastructure, allowing gatherings and cultural events to come and go without competing with the character already there.

Hospitality Event Space
Adaptive Re-use
Immediately off the elevator visitors are greeted with one of the first hospitality anchors. A large counter provides a moment for meeting, check-in’s, dining, or catering service.
A sliding door leading to the hospitality bar allows for a pass through into a quiet room tucked in the corner. This space could be a green room, recording room, or a speak easy depending on the event.
The main stair leading up to the mezzanine becomes both a place for people to sit for a show or a showcase for display based on the hosted event.
Materiality was refrained to allow the hosted event to shine, but intentional to speak to the character of the building. The walls of the green room use car decking from the adjacent building and revitalize it in a blue hue.
The second hospitality anchor is a showcase of food and drink, providing an approachable area for guests to interact with the food served.
The third hospitality anchor turns a previously unoccupiable space underneath a stair into a bar and brings an element of intrigue as visitors circle the space. Beyond, additional rentable meeting rooms provide flexibility in the programming of the space and caters to the rotating needs of the larger Railspur block.
