The Vashon Huts extend a private residential property to accommodate overnight guests and independent short stays. Set apart from the main house, the compact cabins give each guest a self contained retreat with a bedroom, overhead bunk, and bathroom, bringing the privacy and autonomy of hospitality into a residential setting. A shared hot tub creates a place to slow down and gather outdoors, while the cabins remain closely connected to the landscape and the larger property. Small in footprint but complete in what they provide, the huts explore what makes someone want to arrive, settle in, and stay.

Guest Cabins

400 SF Each

The Vashon Huts are connected to the main house by a shared landscaped path that includes a fire pit and hot tub for communal use.

A corner window looks out upon the Vashon landscape and opens up a larger sense of space at the interior.

A simple standing seam facade and roof simplified the construction cost and embraced a streamlined design.

Each cabin has its own threshold making each guest feel like they have a private space of their own.

The interior walls were left as a light color to encourage the space to open up and feel generous.

The toilet and shower have their own private spaces while the sink remains a shared area.

The cabin interiors rely on thoughtful elements to create a sense of home from lighting moments to shelving, it is both useful and curated.

A small bunk sits above the main bedroom allowing families to use the cabin while each having their own space.
