Our residential work ranges from mountain retreats and waterfront homes to urban residences, agricultural properties, interior remodels and anything in between. Each begins with close attention to the particular qualities of the site and the life our clients want to build there.
Decades of residential work have given SkB Architects the judgment to know what deserves emphasis and what can remain quiet. We notice how someone arrives home, where morning light falls, how people cook and gather, where they retreat, and how inside opens to outside. Those observations shape decisions at every scale, creating homes that feel particular to the people who live there, can change with a family across generations, and feel inevitable in the places they occupy.
Located on the eastern shoreline of Lake Whatcom in northwest Washington State. Designed for a couple who are equal parts technology and nature, digital and analog, city and country, this single-family residence is an investigation of harmonies and contrasts that takes its cues from these two personalities (and one dog named Lemmy), while shaped by the influences of site, and an ardent desire for durability and sustainability.
